Trade schools and college universities offer beginning to advanced classes that provide valuable training and information to future electricians. The classes include classroom-based studies, and hands-on training to ensure electricians are ready for a job once the program has been completed. Furthermore, many electrical companies require a specific amount of hours to be completed before employment. Oftentimes a degree substitutes for the hours required.

Completing an apprentice program

Most states require an electrician apprentice program to be completed. As mentioned, completing a trade school or college university program may fulfill this requirement. Completion of a specific amount of hours may also be required in an apprenticeship program before furthering your electrician career.

Licensing

If the state you reside in requires an electrician license, you would need to pass an exam that tests your knowledge on electric codes, conducts, and concepts.

Due to the amount of electricity the public uses, there are numerous types of electricians. There are even three levels of expertise. Apprenticeship, journeyman, and master is the order in which electricians may follow when pursuing a career as an electrician. Here are a few examples of the different work electricians may perform.
