FAQ

Where do plumbers find their supplies?

If the customer decides they would like you to find supplies and the necessary parts, it is your job to find the best parts at a low cost. Parts and supplies can be found at local hardware stores, or online stores and sellers.  Review the parts and the cost with the customer before proceeding.

Is it necessary to include a detailed description on the invoice?

A detailed description of the parts bought and used is recommended. If the customer pays for the parts, they are going to want an explanation as to why the part was bought, and what the part was used for. It is best to include a detailed description to avoid confusion.

Do plumbers charge for travel time?

This will depend on the company you are working for. The company will either provide you with an automobile that is to be used for work only, or they will compensate you for the time and gas you have used with your own car. If you are a self-employed plumber, it is your responsibility to decide how time and gas will be paid for. Since plumbers travel so much, they usually charge a fee for travel time. Otherwise, they include this fee in the labor section of their invoice. Our invoice template acknowledges the travel fee and allows users to exclude this feature if necessary.
